Joe's Bio

Joe Demory is looking forward to another successful season this winter, as he joins the NGA Hooters Tour for the 2nd consecutive season.  With one season under his belt, Joe is looking to take the valuable experience he gained last season to take his game to the next level.

Joe started off his rookie campaign by making the cut in 2 out of the first 3 tournaments that he entered.  Those tournaments were highlighted by a (5-under) 67 at the LPGA International course where Joe finished T-27.  Joe went through the middle portion of the season hitting the ball well, but not scoring well as he is capable.  Joe regained his ability to go low, finishing the season on a high note with two Top 25 finishes.  The first high note was his T-22 finish at the Stonybrook East tournament, with a 2nd round (4-under) 68; the other his T-16 finish at the Tour Championship where Joe shot a final round low (6-under) 66.  Joe’s rookie season proved not only to be challenging, but to be a great learning experience.  Joe finished the season finishing 67th on the Tour Money List.

Before he turned professional, Joe attended St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.  In 2001, as a freshman, Joe was named Midwest Classic Conference (MCC) Player of the Year.  In 2002 at the NAIA Men’s National Tournament, Joe was named All-Tournament player as a sophomore.  The following year at nationals he was again named an All-Tournament player as well as a 1st team NAIA All-American and a Ping All-American, becoming the first Bee in history to claim that honor. His senior season, Joe was once again named MCC Player of the Year as well as receiving 1st team NAIA All-American honors for the 2nd consecutive season.  Joe finished his senior campaign ranked 1st among NAIA golfers and 42nd in the Golf Stat Cup which collectively ranks all Division 1, Division 2, NAIA and Division 3 individual golfers.  Joe has 11 career collegiate wins as well as 41 Top 5 finishes over his college career.   He is the only player in school history to be named to the 1st team All Conference for four consecutive years.  He also owns records for the lowest individual stroke average (71.90), most tournament wins in a season (5), and lowest 18, 36, and 54-hole tournament-scoring records.

An all-round athlete and role model, Joe was a 2-time NAIA Academic All American who spent time as a volunteer for V.I.T.A, Volunteer Income Tax Assistants, a program where volunteers do taxes for people in the community and SAU’s campus ministry.

Joe received the Champions of Character Award (04’ & 05’) which is presented to an athlete who exemplifies the five aspects of the NAIA’s Champions of Character initiative. Those being respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
